וַיִּשְׁאֲל֥וּ way·yiš·’ă·lū So inquired GRAM DICO
בְנֵֽי־ ḇə·nê- the sons GRAM DICO
יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל yiś·rā·’êl of Israel GRAM DICO
בַּֽיהוָ֑ה Yah·weh; of Yahweh GRAM DICO

וְשָׁ֗ם wə·šām, and [was] there GRAM DICO
אֲרוֹן֙ ’ă·rō·wn the ark GRAM DICO
בְּרִ֣ית bə·rîṯ of the covenant GRAM DICO
הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm, of God GRAM DICO

עֹמֵ֣ד ׀ ‘ō·mêḏ stood GRAM DICO
לְפָנָ֗יו lə·p̄ā·nāw, before it GRAM DICO
בַּיָּמִ֣ים bay·yā·mîm in days GRAM DICO
הָהֵם֮ hā·hêm those GRAM DICO
לֵאמֹר֒ lê·mōr saying GRAM DICO
､
הַאוֹסִ֨ף ha·’ō·w·sip̄ shall again GRAM DICO
ע֜וֹד ‘ō·wḏ I yet GRAM DICO
לָצֵ֧את lā·ṣêṯ go out GRAM DICO
לַמִּלְחָמָ֛ה lam·mil·ḥā·māh into battle GRAM DICO
עִם־ ‘im- against GRAM DICO
בְּנֵֽי־ bə·nê- the sons GRAM DICO
בִנְיָמִ֥ן ḇin·yā·min of Benjamin GRAM DICO
אָחִ֖י ’ā·ḥî my brother GRAM DICO
､
אִם־ ’im- or GRAM DICO
אֶחְדָּ֑ל ’eḥ·dāl; shall I cease GRAM DICO
؟
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר way·yō·mer and said GRAM DICO
､
יְהוָה֙ Yah·weh Yahweh GRAM DICO
עֲל֔וּ ‘ă·lū, go up GRAM DICO
–
כִּ֥י kî for GRAM DICO
מָחָ֖ר mā·ḥār tomorrow GRAM DICO
אֶתְּנֶ֥נּוּ ’et·tə·nen·nū I will deliver them GRAM DICO
בְיָדֶֽךָ׃ ḇə·yā·ḏe·ḵā. into your hand GRAM DICO

אֶל־ ’el- to GRAM DICO
הַגִּבְעָ֖ה hag·giḇ·‘āh Gibeah GRAM DICO
סָבִֽיב׃ sā·ḇîḇ. all around GRAM DICO

הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֑י haš·šə·lî·šî; third GRAM DICO
וַיַּעַרְכ֥וּ way·ya·‘ar·ḵū and put themselves in battle array GRAM DICO
אֶל־ ’el- against GRAM DICO
הַגִּבְעָ֖ה hag·giḇ·‘āh Gibeah GRAM DICO
､
כְּפַ֥עַם kə·p̄a·‘am as GRAM DICO
בְּפָֽעַם׃ bə·p̄ā·‘am. at the other times GRAM DICO

וַיֵּצְא֤וּ way·yê·ṣə·’ū So went out GRAM DICO
בְנֵֽי־ ḇə·nê- the sons GRAM DICO
בִנְיָמִן֙ ḇin·yā·min of Benjamin GRAM DICO
לִקְרַ֣את liq·raṯ against GRAM DICO
הָעָ֔ם hā·‘ām, the people GRAM DICO
､
הָנְתְּק֖וּ hā·nə·tə·qū [and] were drawn away GRAM DICO
מִן־ min- from GRAM DICO
הָעִ֑יר hā·‘îr; the city GRAM DICO
–
וַיָּחֵ֡לּוּ way·yā·ḥêl·lū and they began GRAM DICO
לְהַכּוֹת֩ lə·hak·kō·wṯ to strike down GRAM DICO
מֵהָעָ֨ם mê·hā·‘ām of the people GRAM DICO
､
חֲלָלִ֜ים ḥă·lā·lîm [and] kill some GRAM DICO
､
כְּפַ֣עַם ׀ kə·p̄a·‘am as GRAM DICO
בְּפַ֗עַם bə·p̄a·‘am, at the other times GRAM DICO
､
בַּֽמְסִלּוֹת֙ bam·sil·lō·wṯ in the highways GRAM DICO
､
אֲשֶׁ֨ר ’ă·šer of which GRAM DICO
אַחַ֜ת ’a·ḥaṯ one GRAM DICO
עֹלָ֣ה ‘ō·lāh goes up GRAM DICO
בֵֽית־ ḇêṯ- to GRAM
אֵ֗ל ’êl, Bethel GRAM DICO
､
וְאַחַ֤ת wə·’a·ḥaṯ and one GRAM DICO
גִּבְעָ֙תָה֙ giḇ·‘ā·ṯāh to Gibeah GRAM DICO
בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה baś·śā·ḏeh, and in the field GRAM DICO
､
כִּשְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים kiš·lō·šîm about thirty GRAM DICO
אִ֖ישׁ ’îš men GRAM DICO
בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ bə·yiś·rā·’êl. of Israel GRAM DICO

וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ way·yō·mə·rū And said GRAM DICO
､
בְּנֵ֣י bə·nê the sons GRAM DICO
בִנְיָמִ֔ן ḇin·yā·min, of Benjamin GRAM DICO
נִגָּפִ֥ים nig·gā·p̄îm [are] defeated GRAM DICO
הֵ֛ם hêm they GRAM DICO
לְפָנֵ֖ינוּ lə·p̄ā·nê·nū before us GRAM DICO
כְּבָרִאשֹׁנָ֑ה kə·ḇā·ri·šō·nāh; as at first GRAM DICO

וּבְנֵ֧י ū·ḇə·nê But the sons GRAM DICO
יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל yiś·rā·’êl of Israel GRAM DICO
אָמְר֗וּ ’ā·mə·rū, said GRAM DICO

נָנ֙וּסָה֙ nā·nū·sāh let us flee GRAM DICO
､
וּֽנְתַקְּנֻ֔הוּ ū·nə·ṯaq·qə·nu·hū, and draw them away GRAM DICO
מִן־ min- from GRAM DICO
הָעִ֖יר hā·‘îr the city GRAM DICO
אֶל־ ’el- to GRAM DICO
הַֽמְסִלּֽוֹת׃ ham·sil·lō·wṯ. the highways GRAM DICO

וְכֹ֣ל ׀ wə·ḵōl So all GRAM DICO
אִ֣ישׁ ’îš the men GRAM DICO
יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל yiś·rā·’êl, of Israel GRAM DICO
קָ֚מוּ qā·mū rose GRAM DICO
מִמְּקוֹמ֔וֹ mim·mə·qō·w·mōw, from their place GRAM DICO
､
וַיַּעַרְכ֖וּ way·ya·‘ar·ḵū and put themselves in battle array GRAM DICO
בְּבַ֣עַל bə·ḇa·‘al at GRAM
תָּמָ֑ר tā·mār; Baal Tamar GRAM DICO
–
וְאֹרֵ֧ב wə·’ō·rêḇ and men in ambush GRAM DICO
יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל yiś·rā·’êl of Israel GRAM DICO
מֵגִ֥יחַ mê·ḡî·aḥ burst forth GRAM DICO
מִמְּקֹמ֖וֹ mim·mə·qō·mōw from their position GRAM DICO
､
מִמַּֽעֲרֵה־ mim·ma·‘ă·rêh- in the plain of GRAM DICO
גָֽבַע׃ ḡā·ḇa‘. Geba GRAM DICO
