Deutéronome 20, 8
וְיָסְפ֣וּ wə·yā·sə·p̄ū And further GRAM DICO
הַשֹּׁטְרִים֮ haš·šō·ṭə·rîm the officers GRAM DICO
לְדַבֵּ֣ר lə·ḏab·bêr shall speak GRAM DICO
אֶל־ ’el- to GRAM DICO
הָעָם֒ hā·‘ām the people GRAM DICO
､
וְאָמְר֗וּ wə·’ā·mə·rū, and say GRAM DICO
､
מִי־ mî- who [is] GRAM DICO
הָאִ֤ישׁ hā·’îš the man GRAM DICO
הַיָּרֵא֙ hay·yā·rê [who is] fearful GRAM DICO
וְרַ֣ךְ wə·raḵ and GRAM DICO
הַלֵּבָ֔ב hal·lê·ḇāḇ, fainthearted GRAM DICO
؟
יֵלֵ֖ךְ yê·lêḵ let him go GRAM DICO
וְיָשֹׁ֣ב wə·yā·šōḇ and return GRAM DICO
לְבֵית֑וֹ lə·ḇê·ṯōw; to his house GRAM DICO
､
וְלֹ֥א wə·lō and lest GRAM DICO
יִמַּ֛ס yim·mas faint GRAM DICO
אֶת־ ’eṯ-  -  GRAM DICO
לְבַ֥ב lə·ḇaḇ the heart GRAM DICO
אֶחָ֖יו ’e·ḥāw of his brothers GRAM DICO
כִּלְבָבֽוֹ׃ kil·ḇā·ḇōw. like his heart GRAM DICO

וְהָיָ֛ה wə·hā·yāh And when so it shall be GRAM DICO

כְּכַלֹּ֥ת kə·ḵal·lōṯ have finished GRAM DICO
הַשֹּׁטְרִ֖ים haš·šō·ṭə·rîm the officers GRAM DICO
לְדַבֵּ֣ר lə·ḏab·bêr speaking GRAM DICO
אֶל־ ’el- to GRAM DICO
הָעָ֑ם hā·‘ām; the people GRAM DICO

וּפָֽקְד֛וּ ū·p̄ā·qə·ḏū that they shall make GRAM DICO
שָׂרֵ֥י śā·rê captains GRAM DICO
צְבָא֖וֹת ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ of the armies GRAM DICO
בְּרֹ֥אשׁ bə·rōš to lead GRAM DICO
הָעָֽם׃ hā·‘ām. the people GRAM DICO

כִּֽי־ kî- When GRAM DICO
תִקְרַ֣ב ṯiq·raḇ you go near GRAM DICO
אֶל־ ’el- unto GRAM DICO
עִ֔יר ‘îr, a city GRAM DICO
לְהִלָּחֵ֖ם lə·hil·lā·ḥêm to fight GRAM DICO
עָלֶ֑יהָ ‘ā·le·hā; against it GRAM DICO
וְקָרָ֥אתָ wə·qā·rā·ṯā then proclaim GRAM DICO
אֵלֶ֖יהָ ’ê·le·hā to it GRAM DICO
לְשָׁלֽוֹם׃ lə·šā·lō·wm. [an offer of] peace GRAM DICO

וְהָיָה֙ wə·hā·yāh And it shall be GRAM DICO
､
אִם־ ’im- that if GRAM DICO
שָׁל֣וֹם šā·lō·wm of peace GRAM DICO
､
תַּֽעַנְךָ֔ ta·‘an·ḵā, they accept your offer GRAM DICO
וּפָתְחָ֖ה ū·p̄ā·ṯə·ḥāh and open GRAM DICO
לָ֑ךְ lāḵ; to you GRAM
וְהָיָ֞ה wə·hā·yāh then GRAM DICO
､
כָּל־ kāl- all GRAM DICO
הָעָ֣ם hā·‘ām the people GRAM DICO
הַנִּמְצָא־ han·nim·ṣā- [who are] found GRAM DICO
בָ֗הּ ḇāh, in it GRAM
יִהְי֥וּ yih·yū shall be placed GRAM DICO
לְךָ֛ lə·ḵā to you GRAM
לָמַ֖ס lā·mas under tribute GRAM DICO
וַעֲבָדֽוּךָ׃ wa·‘ă·ḇā·ḏū·ḵā. and serve you GRAM DICO

וְאִם־ wə·’im- And if GRAM DICO
לֹ֤א lō not GRAM DICO
תַשְׁלִים֙ ṯaš·lîm [the city] will make peace GRAM DICO
עִמָּ֔ךְ ‘im·māḵ, with you GRAM DICO
וְעָשְׂתָ֥ה wə·‘ā·śə·ṯāh but makes GRAM DICO
עִמְּךָ֖ ‘im·mə·ḵā against you GRAM DICO
מִלְחָמָ֑ה mil·ḥā·māh; war GRAM DICO
וְצַרְתָּ֖ wə·ṣar·tā then you shall besiege GRAM DICO
עָלֶֽיהָּ׃‪‬‪‬ ‘ā·le·hā. it GRAM DICO

וּנְתָנָ֛הּ ū·nə·ṯā·nāh And when delivers it GRAM DICO
יְהוָ֥ה Yah·weh Yahweh GRAM DICO
אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā your God GRAM DICO
בְּיָדֶ֑ךָ bə·yā·ḏe·ḵā; into your hands GRAM DICO
､
וְהִכִּיתָ֥ wə·hik·kî·ṯā and you shall strike GRAM DICO
אֶת־ ’eṯ-  -  GRAM DICO
כָּל־ kāl- every GRAM DICO
זְכוּרָ֖הּ zə·ḵū·rāh male in it GRAM DICO
לְפִי־ lə·p̄î- with the edge GRAM DICO
חָֽרֶב׃ ḥā·reḇ. of the sword GRAM DICO

רַ֣ק raq But GRAM DICO
הַ֠נָּשִׁים han·nā·šîm the women GRAM DICO
､
וְהַטַּ֨ף wə·haṭ·ṭap̄ and the little ones GRAM DICO
､
וְהַבְּהֵמָ֜ה wə·hab·bə·hê·māh and the livestock GRAM DICO
､
וְכֹל֩ wə·ḵōl and all GRAM DICO
אֲשֶׁ֨ר ’ă·šer that GRAM DICO
יִהְיֶ֥ה yih·yeh is GRAM DICO
בָעִ֛יר ḇā·‘îr in the city GRAM DICO
､
כָּל־ kāl- all GRAM DICO
שְׁלָלָ֖הּ šə·lā·lāh its spoil GRAM DICO
תָּבֹ֣ז tā·ḇōz you shall plunder GRAM DICO
לָ֑ךְ lāḵ; for yourself GRAM
וְאָֽכַלְתָּ֙ wə·’ā·ḵal·tā and you shall eat GRAM DICO
אֶת־ ’eṯ-  -  GRAM DICO
שְׁלַ֣ל šə·lal the plunder GRAM DICO
אֹיְבֶ֔יךָ ’ō·yə·ḇe·ḵā, enemies' GRAM DICO
､
אֲשֶׁ֥ר ’ă·šer which GRAM DICO
נָתַ֛ן nā·ṯan gives GRAM DICO
יְהוָ֥ה Yah·weh Yahweh GRAM DICO
אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā your God GRAM DICO
לָֽךְ׃ lāḵ. you GRAM

תַּעֲשֶׂה֙ ta·‘ă·śeh you shall do GRAM DICO
לְכָל־ lə·ḵāl to all GRAM DICO
הֶ֣עָרִ֔ים he·‘ā·rîm, the cities [which are] GRAM DICO
הָרְחֹקֹ֥ת hā·rə·ḥō·qōṯ far GRAM DICO
מִמְּךָ֖ mim·mə·ḵā from you GRAM DICO
מְאֹ֑ד mə·’ōḏ; very GRAM DICO
אֲשֶׁ֛ר ’ă·šer which GRAM DICO
לֹא־ lō- not GRAM DICO
מֵעָרֵ֥י mê·‘ā·rê of the cities GRAM DICO
הַגּֽוֹיִם־ hag·gō·w·yim- of nations GRAM DICO
הָאֵ֖לֶּה hā·’êl·leh these GRAM DICO
הֵֽנָּה׃ hên·nāh. are GRAM DICO

מֵעָרֵ֤י mê·‘ā·rê of the cities GRAM DICO
הָֽעַמִּים֙ hā·‘am·mîm of peoples GRAM DICO
､
הָאֵ֔לֶּה hā·’êl·leh, these GRAM DICO
אֲשֶׁר֙ ’ă·šer which GRAM DICO
יְהוָ֣ה Yah·weh Yahweh GRAM DICO
אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā, your God GRAM DICO
נֹתֵ֥ן nō·ṯên gives GRAM DICO
לְךָ֖ lə·ḵā you GRAM
נַחֲלָ֑ה na·ḥă·lāh; [as] an inheritance GRAM DICO
､
לֹ֥א lō nothing GRAM DICO
תְחַיֶּ֖ה ṯə·ḥay·yeh you shall let remain alive GRAM DICO
כָּל־ kāl- all GRAM DICO
נְשָׁמָֽה׃ nə·šā·māh. that breathes GRAM DICO
