וַֽיְהִי֙ way·hî And it came to pass GRAM DICO

בָּעֵ֣ת bā·‘êṯ at time GRAM DICO

הַהִ֔יא ha·hî, that GRAM DICO

וְיָֽרָבְעָ֖ם wə·yā·rā·ḇə·‘ām and when Jeroboam GRAM DICO

יָצָ֣א yā·ṣā went out GRAM DICO

מִירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם mî·rū·šā·lim; of Jerusalem GRAM DICO

וַיִּמְצָ֣א way·yim·ṣā that met GRAM DICO

אֹת֡וֹ ’ō·ṯōw him GRAM DICO

אֲחִיָּה֩ ’ă·ḥî·yāh Ahijah GRAM DICO

הַשִּׁילֹנִ֨י haš·šî·lō·nî the Shilonite GRAM DICO

הַנָּבִ֜יא han·nā·ḇî the prophet GRAM DICO

בַּדֶּ֗רֶךְ bad·de·reḵ, on the way GRAM DICO

וְה֤וּא wə·hū and he GRAM DICO

מִתְכַּסֶּה֙ miṯ·kas·seh had clothed himself GRAM DICO

בְּשַׂלְמָ֣ה bə·śal·māh with a garment GRAM DICO

חֲדָשָׁ֔ה ḥă·ḏā·šāh, new GRAM DICO

וּשְׁנֵיהֶ֥ם ū·šə·nê·hem and the two [were] GRAM DICO

לְבַדָּ֖ם lə·ḇad·dām alone GRAM DICO

בַּשָּׂדֶֽה׃ baś·śā·ḏeh. in the field GRAM DICO

וַיִּתְפֹּ֣שׂ way·yiṯ·pōś And took hold GRAM DICO

אֲחִיָּ֔ה ’ă·ḥî·yāh, Ahijah GRAM DICO

בַּשַּׂלְמָ֥ה baś·śal·māh of the garment GRAM DICO

הַחֲדָשָׁ֖ה ha·ḥă·ḏā·šāh new GRAM DICO

אֲשֶׁ֣ר ’ă·šer that [was] GRAM DICO

עָלָ֑יו ‘ā·lāw; on him GRAM DICO

וַיִּ֨קְרָעֶ֔הָ way·yiq·rā·‘e·hā, and tore it GRAM DICO

שְׁנֵ֥ים šə·nêm two GRAM DICO

עָשָׂ֖ר ‘ā·śār [into] [and] ten GRAM DICO

קְרָעִֽים׃ qə·rā·‘îm. pieces GRAM DICO

הַמַּמְלָכָה֙ ham·mam·lā·ḵāh the kingdom GRAM DICO

מִיַּ֣ד mî·yaḏ out of the hand GRAM DICO

שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה šə·lō·mōh, of Solomon GRAM DICO

וְנָתַתִּ֣י wə·nā·ṯat·tî and will give GRAM DICO

לְךָ֔ lə·ḵā, to you GRAM

אֵ֖ת ’êṯ - GRAM DICO

עֲשָׂרָ֥ה ‘ă·śā·rāh ten GRAM DICO

הַשְּׁבָטִֽים׃ haš·šə·ḇā·ṭîm. tribes GRAM DICO

וְהַשֵּׁ֥בֶט wə·haš·šê·ḇeṭ But tribe GRAM DICO

הָאֶחָ֖ד hā·’e·ḥāḏ one GRAM DICO

יִֽהְיֶה־ yih·yeh- shall have GRAM DICO

לּ֑וֹ lōw; he GRAM

עַבְדִּ֣י ‘aḇ·dî of My servant GRAM DICO

בָּחַ֣רְתִּי bā·ḥar·tî I have chosen GRAM DICO

בָ֔הּ ḇāh, in GRAM

מִכֹּ֖ל mik·kōl out of all GRAM DICO

שִׁבְטֵ֥י šiḇ·ṭê the tribes GRAM DICO

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ yiś·rā·’êl. of Israel GRAM DICO

יַ֣עַן ׀ ya·‘an Because GRAM DICO

אֲשֶׁ֣ר ’ă·šer that GRAM DICO

עֲזָב֗וּנִי ‘ă·zā·ḇū·nî, they have forsaken Me GRAM DICO

וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲווּ֮ way·yiš·ta·ḥă·wū and worshiped GRAM DICO

לְעַשְׁתֹּרֶת֮ lə·‘aš·tō·reṯ Ashtoreth GRAM DICO

אֱלֹהֵ֣י ’ĕ·lō·hê the goddess GRAM DICO

צִֽדֹנִין֒ ṣi·ḏō·nîn of the Sidonians GRAM DICO

לִכְמוֹשׁ֙ liḵ·mō·wōš Chemosh GRAM DICO

אֱלֹהֵ֣י ’ĕ·lō·hê the god GRAM DICO

מוֹאָ֔ב mō·w·’āḇ, of the Moabites GRAM DICO

וּלְמִלְכֹּ֖ם ū·lə·mil·kōm and Milcom GRAM DICO

אֱלֹהֵ֣י ’ĕ·lō·hê the god GRAM DICO

בְנֵֽי־ ḇə·nê- of the sons GRAM DICO

עַמּ֑וֹן ‘am·mō·wn; of Ammon GRAM DICO

וְלֹֽא־ wə·lō- and not GRAM DICO

הָלְכ֣וּ hā·lə·ḵū have walked GRAM DICO

בִדְרָכַ֗י ḇiḏ·rā·ḵay, in My ways GRAM DICO

לַעֲשׂ֨וֹת la·‘ă·śō·wṯ to do GRAM DICO

הַיָּשָׁ֧ר hay·yā·šār [what is] right GRAM DICO

בְּעֵינַ֛י bə·‘ê·nay in My eyes GRAM DICO

､

וְחֻקֹּתַ֥י wə·ḥuq·qō·ṯay and My statutes GRAM DICO

וּמִשְׁפָּטַ֖י ū·miš·pā·ṭay and [keep] My judgments GRAM DICO

､

כְּדָוִ֥ד kə·ḏā·wiḏ as David GRAM DICO

אָבִֽיו׃ ’ā·ḇîw. [did] his father GRAM DICO

וְלֹֽא־ wə·lō- And However not GRAM DICO

אֶקַּ֥ח ’eq·qaḥ I will take GRAM DICO

אֶת־ ’eṯ- - GRAM DICO

כָּל־ kāl- whole GRAM DICO

הַמַּמְלָכָ֖ה ham·mam·lā·ḵāh the kingdom GRAM DICO

מִיָּד֑וֹ mî·yā·ḏōw; out of his hand GRAM DICO

､

כִּ֣י ׀ kî because GRAM DICO

נָשִׂ֣יא nā·śî ruler GRAM DICO

אֲשִׁתֶ֗נּוּ ’ă·ši·ṯen·nū, I have made him GRAM DICO

כֹּ֚ל kōl all GRAM DICO

יְמֵ֣י yə·mê the days GRAM DICO

חַיָּ֔יו ḥay·yāw, of his life GRAM DICO

לְמַ֨עַן lə·ma·‘an for the sake GRAM DICO

דָּוִ֤ד dā·wiḏ of David GRAM DICO

עַבְדִּי֙ ‘aḇ·dî My servant GRAM DICO

אֲשֶׁ֣ר ’ă·šer whom GRAM DICO

בָּחַ֣רְתִּי bā·ḥar·tî I chose GRAM DICO

אֹת֔וֹ ’ō·ṯōw, - GRAM DICO

אֲשֶׁ֥ר ’ă·šer because GRAM DICO

שָׁמַ֖ר šā·mar he kept GRAM DICO

מִצְוֺתַ֥י miṣ·wō·ṯay My commandments GRAM DICO

וְחֻקֹּתָֽי׃ wə·ḥuq·qō·ṯāy. and My statutes GRAM DICO
